The Walpier tannery was founded in 1974. It is a member of Italian Vegetable Tanned Vera Leather Consortium, which exists to guarantee the quality of the raw material and workmanship of vegetable tanneries in the Tuscan region. Buttero is characterized by a smooth grain side surface with deep, rich colors. The underside of the leather has a resin coating (acrylic & wax), which gives it an extremely finished look. Many people say the underside looks just as good as the grain side! This is ideal if your project is unlined or you need a really clean underside.
