Chromepak is a straight chrome tanned leather where a heavy grease blend is hot stuffed into the leather during the re-tanning process. This combination of soft waxes help make this article pliable.

The combination of heavy grease blends and soft waxes allows this incredibly tough leather to become flexible and water resistant.

A version of this article originated in the early 1900’s as a mechanical leather used to make oil seals. It was used for this purpose as it has superior durability and heat resistance.
